State Tournament Has SRV Aiming For Future Little League World Series
LARKSPUR, Calif. – The San Ramon Valley Little League (SRV) 10-Year-Old District All-Star Team made history this summer by winning the District 57 and Section 3 tournaments, securing their place in the 2024 NorCal State Tournament starting this Saturday in Larkspur, CA. This achievement marks the first time in 20 years that a SRV team of any age has advanced to the state tournament.
SRV went undefeated in district and section competition, and their state appearance makes them one of the top seven 10-year-old Little League teams in Northern California, which extends from the Oregon border south to Kings County. The team’s success has been attributed to a formidable pitching staff, a dynamic top-to-bottom batting order, and an experienced coaching staff that adds a layer of historical significance to the team’s journey—specifically assistant coach, Greg Isom.
Isom played for the SRVLL team that reached the Little League World Series Championship game in 1991, finishing runner-up to Taipei Taiwan. Now, as an assistant coach and league president, Isom is hopeful that this new generation of players has the potential to be a World Series-bound team in two years when they turn 12.
“It’s an incredible feeling to see these young players achieve such success so early,” said Isom. “We have a talented group, committed coaches, and supportive parents, and I’m optimistic that we can build on this momentum and make it to the World Series in a couple of years.”

While the NorCal State Tournament will feature seven teams from across Northern California, the SRV 10-Year-Old District All-Star Team’s journey has created a buzz in the local community.

“If we win, awesome. That’s what we’re setting out to do,” added head coach Gus Panagotacos, a former Cal Berkeley and Greek National Team baseball player. “If we don’t, then the kids have something to work toward next year. Either way, we look at all of this as building blocks to the ultimate goal: Williamsport (and the Little League World Series) in 2026.”
